THe spartans
The most fierce armies of history were the spartans which were from Sparta, Greece and is well known for their rigorous training, their defenses, their men, and especially for their leader who died in action Leonidas the Great. The Spartans were fighters who were brave, tough, and ready to fight at all times. The spartans were so confident that their soldiers were extremely trained and tough that Sparta didn't have any walls to protect the city, instead if someone were to invade Sparta the spartans would fight them off, and most likely win. The training for the spartans began when they were seven years old, first they would be born, but the parents would have ever been in charge of the children that were born instead the kings of Sparta were in control of the children, and once the children turned 7 they would move into barracks and stay there training and living there till they are 30 years old, even if they marry they would still not be able to leave their home. The spartans would be trained daily and would be prepared to fight once put on the battle field. The spartans were also well known for their contributions in the Persian war when Darius(King of the Persian Empire) wanted the spartans to be ruled by the persians, and this controversy started the war. The persians took many, many troops to fight against the spartans while the Spartans had only taken a majority of their troops to fight the persians. The spartans and persians fought for a while resulting in thousands of dead persians. The persians sent many platoons of soldiers to fight the spartans, but none of the platoons succeeded. During the war there was a traitor who betrayed the spartans and showed the persians a way around the mountain to surround the spartans. When the spartans found out about this information Leonidas sent a majority of his troops home, just keeping 300 troops to stay and fight the persians off which they wouldn't have a chance against. The persians ended up killing the 300 spartans including Leonidas, but failed to conquer Greece thereafter
